Gymnastics

Calhoon’s is proud to offer quality gymnastics training for children ages 4 and older. The gymnastics program promotes strong, healthy bodies. It helps children gain self-confidence, self-esteem and self-reliance. Social skills will be enhanced as children work with others and build healthy relationships with peers and coaches. Gymnastics also teaches fundamental movement skills while achieving a sense of body awareness.

Our gymnastics classes for 4–7 year olds focus on the basic motor skills such as hopping, skipping, running, catching, throwing and kicking. We will also incorporate basic tumbling techniques such as bridge, forward type rolls and the beginning steps of beginning gymnastics.

Our gymnastics classes for 8–12 year olds focus on body control and patience. While learning various tumbling skills, they will also learn to pay attention to what their whole body is doing from their head to there toes and realize how important it all is to the final product. Your child will also learn to work, trust and rely on others to build a healthy relationship with their peers. They will also be focusing on different types of rolls, handstands, cartwheels and the steps leading to the advanced gymnastics such as handsprings. The children will be building strength, flexibly and confidence while having fun and working with others.

The numerous physical and mental benefits of this program will greatly help any students who would like to train in Martial Arts or any other sports.
