Kenny Ziegele—Instructor
Kenny has been training Martial Arts for over 20 years. He became an Instructor at Calhoon’s in 2006 when he began coaching in the adult Martial Arts class and the adult MMA class.
Kenny trained for 10 years under James Keating (who trained Kenpo under Ed Parker—recognized as ‘the Father of American Kenpo’). During that time, the focus of Kenny’s training was on Jeet-Kune-Do, Kenpo, Red Boat Wing Chun, Kali and weapons and firearms training. Under Mr. Keating, Kenny instructed Martial Arts/Self-Defense classes at the WWCC for 3 years. Kenny then continued his training with Steve Smith for 3 years further developing his skills in Wing Chun and Aikido.
Kenny has also attended numerous seminars including: Jesse Glover (Bruce Lee’s first student and Assistant Instructor); the JKD, Kali & Escrima legend—Dan Inosanto (one of Bruce Lee’s top, chosen students); Paul Vunak (nationally recognized JKD instructor and close range combat specialist instructor for U.S. Special Forces Units (including the Navy Seals)); Kelly Worden (JKD specialist and 1993 Hall of Fame Weapons Expert of the Year); and JKD & Kali specialist Larry Hartsell (one of Bruce Lee’s top students). In the late 90’s, Kenny ran his own successful Martial Arts school—‘KZ Art in Motion’ which lasted 3 years until time and scheduling restraints would not allow.
Over the last few years, Kenny has been honing his MMA skills (Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai Kickboxing) at Calhoon’s as one of Ryan’s main training partners. Kenny brings a tremendous wealth of Martial Arts knowledge and teaching ability to our team and it is a tremendous honor and privilege to have him aboard! In addition to teaching at Calhoon’s, Kenny also owns and operates his own excavation business—ZACO Construction
