Ryan Evans—Instructor
Ryan Evans has been training Martial Arts under Head Instructor Ryan Calhoon for over 7 years and counting. He is the first student ever to earn a Black Sash under Ryan Calhoon and was one of Calhoon’s first original students when Calhoon first opened his own school. Ryan is skilled with Martial Arts techniques and principles drawn from MMA (Boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling), along with Aikido, Wing Chun and JKD.
Ryan coached as an Assistant in the Youth Martial Arts & Life-Skills program for a couple years before becoming an Instructor. As in Instructor now, Ryan still coaches in that program as well as the Youth MMA, Adult MMA and Kickboxing classes. He is a very knowledgeable Instructor and a great coach. Even when he was only 13 years old, he was frequently receiving compliments about his skills and coaching abilities from students he was helping who were over twice his age. Parents whose kids he was teaching also commented regularly how much they appreciated having him as a Martial Arts coach and role model for their kids.
Ryan competes around the Northwest in submission grappling tournaments and plans to eventually compete in MMA. He is a great asset to the Calhoon’s team and a great testament for the program. Ryan truly is a product of the product.
In addition to Martial Arts, Ryan also participates in other school sports, including football, track and wrestling. Even when playing a school sport, Ryan still makes sure to get into the gym at least a couple times per week for his own personal training because he says without the Martial Arts training, he starts getting out of shape! That’s saying a lot since most athletes would find high school football to be physically challenging!
